Enough with the complaining about Lester Holt. As someone who dislikes both candidates who were on the stage last night, I’m a good fit to analyze the first 2016 general election presidential candidate face-off. You can always tell who lost the debate. It’s the campaign that whines about the moderator. Lester Holt did a pretty…
We covered a ton of ground in 16 minutes this morning on WTMJ radio. For those who want to pick and choose topics, here are approximate timestamps. 3:00 Why the tax cuts are not energizing GOP voters 4:50 The Dems are all-in opposed to Foxconn 5:50 Walker’s DOT Secretary spreading the Dem message on Foxconn…
Mining moratorium repeal. The Foxconn contract. Restructuring of Assembly Ways and Means Committee. This week’s episode is jammed packed with news from the State Capitol, including Gwyn Guenther’s interview with Rep. John Macco. https://audioboom.com/posts/6461968-the-wheelercast-11-06-17
Gwyn Guenther brings us the latest on the pending Senate and Assembly floor votes on the State Budget and the Foxconn Deal. She examines why Peter Barca stepped down as Assembly Minority Leader and discusses who may replace him. And we remember 9/11. https://audioboom.com/posts/6289215-the-wheelercast-episode-13-09-11-17
The latest Marquette University Law School Poll is out, and we’re talking numbers, trends and outliers in this quick video podcast. Talk of a Blue Wave hitting Wisconsin is a bit premature, and while results of this poll are mixed, overall both Scott Walker and Tammy Baldwin have more reasons to like them than fear…
Scott Walker released a new campaign video this week, officially kicking off his re-election bid. Theo Keith of Fox 6 visited the new Edge Messaging offices in Brookfield to get my take. “The best thing Scott Walker has going for him isn’t the Wisconsin economy, it’s the Wisconsin Democratic Party,” said Fraley. Fraley says the…
Earlier in the week a reporter asked me a series of questions about tonight’s GOP Debate. Here is what I sent her in response…
Trump will consume all of the oxygen in the room, and will be rewarded with a majority of the post-debate press coverage no matter what actually happens Thursday. With Trump in the debate, the regular expectations of debate decorum are out the window. That’s in part why the media loves Trump and gives him so much coverage. It will be interesting to see if any of the competitors try to mix it up with Walker, or if they ignore him. Trump has tried to say that Wisconsin is a mess, but his reliance on failed, generalized lefty talking points hasn’t hurt Walker. Perhaps Trump or others seize on specifics to which Walker would feel compelled to react. How he responds is important.
I was a panelist on Sunday Insight this week. The show was pre-empted by coverage of the Orlando terrorist attack. But you can still catch the show online, here. We talk about the GOP and Donald Trump, Hillary clinching the nomination and Aaron Rodgers giving up dairy.
John Mercure of 620-WTMJ radio reached out to me to get my thoughts on President Trump letting Reince Priebus go as Chief of Staff, replacing him with retired General (and Homeland Security Secretary) John Kelly. Listen to the segment starting at 12:00.
